HISTORY OF JAN KEN PO HAWAII

 

Jan Ken Po, as it is popularly known in Hawaii, has been transliterated in other terms including Jan Ken Pon (Japan), Jankenpoi, Jack en poy (Phillipines) and Rock-Paper-Scissors in the English-speaking world.

 

Jan Ken Po is the most popular of a subset of games played using only the hands. The origin or the derivation of the name is unknown.

 

Ken is a fist in Japanese and Jan Ken Po is categorized as “Ken (fist) games”. It was invented in the late 19th century and acquired popularity worldwide throughout the 20th century.
